Nancy
Bailey is well known for her rugged palette knife paintings of Cornwall,
capturing the endless variations of light, weather, tides and times
of the year in her paintings.
When in her
teens Nancy took photographs with her father's home-made camera
to produce picture postcards which sold throughout the country.
After several moves around the Westcountry and the South of England
the family moved to Ireland, from where she produced marquetry pictures
which went all over the world.
On returning
to Cornwall in her early fifties she turned her skills to working
in oil with a palette knife. Nancy enjoys capturing the light and
reflections of the Cornish coastlines and river scenes in particular.
Nancy is internationally
renowned, and is acclaimed as one of the leading palette knife artists
in the U.K. Her unique textures beautifully capture the rugged scenery
of the Cornwall.
Despite reports
of her death a few years ago Nancy is alive and well, but now that
she is in her nineties she has stopped painting. Her popularity
has not waned and the demand for her work has increased dramatically,
as has its value.
Cornish Art
Prints is extremely proud to be able to offer prints of Nancy's
work, and believe that her unique textures and colours have been
captured in our prints.
